Multimedia based artist Pheobe riley Law and musician Gaia Blandina explore nature’s reclamation of place. They investigate how plant roots and stem systems mirror community cohesion and economic divides in and around Pearson Park.
Gaia Blandina is a cellist and interdisciplinary sound artist. Her work explores non-methods across multiple areas of artistic and academic enquiry. These include improvisation, devising, cello playing and object-making. Stemming from the exploration of nomadic thinking and an interrogation of concept-driven practice through philosophy, her work is developed across disciplines and in collaboration with other musicians, writers and artists.
Using specialised microphones to record environments such as moss, soil, trees, and other micro-worlds that are beyond our normal range of hearing. This piece will feature sounds collected in and around the park alongside pre-composed and improvised musical ideas.
This new work will invite the audience to reflect on the concepts of nature and its place within the city.
