About
Hull Jazz Festival is produced by J-Night, one of the leading producers of world jazz in the North of England.
We’ve produced the Hull Jazz Festival (summer and winter editions) since 1992. We also deliver a year-round programme in Hull, building, maintaining and developing partnerships with Hull Music Hub, Freedom Festival Arts Trust, Hull City Council, the University of Hull, Jazz North and others.
Since 1992, we’ve produced over 1300 shows, worked with over 7000 musicians and reached audiences of over 260,000
We produce programmes that give audiences access to high quality artists from across the UK and beyond. And we provide developmental opportunities for national, regional and local artists, through commissioning, mentoring and outreach.
J-Night has been a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England since 2011, having received regular funding since 2005. We’re a founder of Jazz North and the Jazz Promotion Network and we’re proud to have been a commissioning partner for the 2017 and 2019 PRSF New Music Biennial and a support organisation for Hull 2017 UK City of Culture.
From 2026 a new partnership has been agreed between the three organisations J-Night, Hull Music Hub and Hull City Council arts development team and we are pleased to announce that the Albemarle Music Centre will become the new home for the Hull Jazz Festival and its umbrella strategy “Out of the Box”.
