After another great festival in July, Hull Jazz Festival and J-Night are proud to present a fantastic open-air line-up at the Fruit Market as part of Freedom Festival 2013.
The E20 Yellow Bus rolls into town from 6th – 8th September, featuring performances from MOBO award-winning hip hop artist Akala; fellow MOBO award-winners and the coolest of young British jazz bands Empirical; Kirsty Almeida and the Troubadours featuring Arun Ghosh; and Omar Puente and Al MacSween, performing with the Freedom Quartet (specially formed for Freedom Festival 2013).
Celebrating the best in northern jazz, the E20 stage will also feature New York Brass Band; Last Train to Skaville; Alligator Gumbo; The Dub Jazz Soundsystem; Octopus; The Hut People; Al Morrison’s Blues Experience; and the Kate Peters Septet.
With everything from jazz standards to hip hop, blues to latino beats, New Orleans swing to ska, there’s a bit of something for everyone and we can guarantee you’ll want to dance!
The whole weekend is FREE as part of Freedom Hull 2013. Now in its sixth year, Freedom Festival brings renowned national and international artists to Hull, while supporting and helping to grow local and regional talent. The festival celebrates Hull’s independent spirit and contribution to the cause of freedom as the birthplace of MP William Wilberforce, who led the abolition of the slave trade in the British Empire. Freedom Festival is a blend of music, art, comedy, dance, theatre and spoken word, located in Hull’s rapidly-emerging Fruit Market cultural quarter.
